Product Description
A walrus tusk scrimshaw portrait of a child in a fur parka holding a dog
This walrus tusk scrimshaw portrait shows a smiling child in a fur-trimmed parka, holding a young dog close. The engraving fills the face of a natural tusk section, left rough and textured at the top and base, and mounted upright on a display stand.
The artist builds the image with fine lines and careful shading, from the soft fur of the hood to the dog's alert face. Scrimshaw on walrus tusk has deep roots in Arctic and maritime tradition, and this piece carries that heritage into an intimate, human scene. At about 6 inches tall, it is an original work suited to a collector's shelf or study.
