This vintage 7 inch Nantucket basket is an open basket woven around 1980 by an unknown weaver. It has a cherry bottom, handle, and rim, with bone knobs and washers where the bentwood handle meets the sides.
An ivory scrimshaw inlay adds a traditional finishing touch. The tight weave and warm cherry wood have mellowed with age, giving the basket the character that collectors of vintage Nantucket baskets look for.
