Product Description
A black horn mortgage button engraved in scrimshaw with your monogram
This scrimshaw horn mortgage button is a polished black disc of water buffalo horn, about 1 1/8 inches across, engraved in scrimshaw with your initials, a date, or other imagery. The pale engraved lines stand out crisply against the dark horn.
The mortgage button, known in the South as the brag button, was set into the newel post at the foot of the stairs to show that the house was free of liens. Buttons can be engraved in scrimshaw with your initials, a date, or other imagery, in a range of monogram and font styles. Because each is custom work, the price shown is a deposit, and the final total may be higher.
