Scrimshaw Bone Mortgage Button

Product Description

An ox bone mortgage button engraved in scrimshaw with your monogram and year

This scrimshaw bone mortgage button is a cream-colored ox bone disc, about 1 1/8 inches across, engraved in scrimshaw with your initials, a date, or other imagery. Choose one, two, or three lines of engraving, or a fully custom design.

The mortgage button, known in the South as the brag button, was set into the newel post at the foot of the stairs to show that the house was free of liens. Buttons can be engraved in scrimshaw with your initials, a date, or other imagery, in a range of monogram and font styles. Because each is custom work, the price shown is a deposit, and the final total may be higher.
