Product Description
A detailed multicolor puffin engraved on walrus tusk
This puffin scrimshaw on walrus tusk shows a puffin standing tall on a rocky ledge, its white chest and dark back set off by the bright orange and yellow of its beak. The engraving is richly detailed and finished in color.
The tusk section is mounted upright on a turned wood and ivory stand. Puffins nest on the cliffs of the North Atlantic and Pacific, and their bold markings make them a favorite subject for wildlife scrimshaw artists. The color work here brings the bird vividly to life.
