This Larry Brewster Nantucket basket pocketbook is an 8-inch lidded basket purse, hand woven in cane over wooden staves with a lid and trim of birdseye maple. A bentwood handle and carved closure complete the classic Nantucket form.
The Nantucket basket purse grew from the lightship basket tradition of the 1800s and became an island icon in the mid-1900s. Brewster's 2026 work carries that tradition forward with a tight, even weave and clean joinery. This basket is currently out of stock, and orders are being taken.
