This Kim England gold Nantucket basket pendant was made on Nantucket in the 1990s. England hand wove a miniature basket from fishing line to create the master, then cast it in 14k gold by the lost wax process, capturing every strand of the weave.
Details exclusive to her work include ivory knobs on the handle, a scallop shell clasp, and on this basket a turquoise cabochon set in the lid. Inside are a miniature gold heart, a tiny penny, and a blank ivory disk ready to be monogrammed. The pendant is signed DKE 14k 29/200, measures 1 inch from bottom to the top of the handle, and weighs 10 grams.
