Product Description
A black raven and totem pole, engraved in scrimshaw on a tapered section
This raven totem pole scrimshaw shows a black bird perched in the foreground, with carved totem figures and a stand of evergreens rising behind it. The engraving fills a tapered natural section that stands 6 inches tall on a round wooden base.
The raven holds a central place in the art and stories of the Pacific Northwest coast, where totem poles record family histories and legends. The artist renders the bird in dense, dark ink against the pale surface, with the bold eye forms of the totem below, creating a strong and graphic display piece.
