Product Description

A rare 18kt gold miniature Nantucket basket pendant by Kim England

This 18kt gold Nantucket basket pendant was handmade on Nantucket around 1980 by Kim England. It is signed and numbered 3 of 200, making it one of the earliest pieces in a small production run and a rare find for collectors of Nantucket jewelry.

England first wove a miniature basket in wire, then cast it using the lost wax method, which preserves the woven detail inside and out. The basket is 18kt gold, with the tiny heart and peg in 14kt gold. The handle knobs are turned ivory, and the lid is set with a blue sapphire cabochon. At just 1/2 inch, it carries the full character of a traditional Nantucket lightship basket in miniature.
