Product Description
An African wildlife scene engraved in color along a curved hippo tooth
This hippo tooth wildlife scrimshaw follows the sweeping curve of a hippopotamus tooth with a procession of African animals, including zebra and antelope, finished in soft color. The tooth rests on a brass stand and measures 6.5 inches across.
Hippo tooth has a dense, bright surface that takes fine engraving well, and its natural arc makes a dramatic frame for a scene of animals on the move. It is an unusual piece that stands apart from maritime scrimshaw and brings the savanna to a collector's shelf. This piece is available for in-store purchase only.
