Product Description
Mammoth ivory carving of Lions on a wood base. This piece of ivory is very unusual and often overlooked because it isn't white. The discoloration happens over thousands of years in a wet environment instead of the permafrost. The black streaks are called spalted from mineral water seeping into microscopic cracks in the ivory, a very special piece.
I travel to Indonesia with mammoth ivory and moose antler. I work directly with master carvers in some remote villages. I have been working with these guys for over 10 years and we pay them a very fair wage for their carvings.
